Four distinguished VFX practitioners will be recognized by the organization at a celebration later this month.
Distinguished VFX practitioners will be recognized this Fall, including 2024 VES Founders Award recipient Brooke Breton, and the 2024 class of VES Hall of Fame inductees Tim McGovern, Thad Beier, Maya Deren, and Dorothy Davenport.
Jeff Barnes, Toni Pace Carstensen, Bob Coleman, Chuck Finance, Shannon Gans, Tim McGovern, and Ray McMillan to be recognized at a celebration of the honorees later this month.
Tim McGovern is honored with the Founders Award and Lifetime VES Member designation, while Sandra Joy Aguilar, Brooke Breton and Bob Coleman receive Honorary Lifetime VES Membership; a celebration of the honorees will take place at a special event in October.
The Council focuses on the science and technology of motion pictures, including preservation of its history, education, and industry standards; new members include industry veterans Paul Cameron, Paul Debevec, Tom Duffield, and Marlon West.
Demographics will shift to 54% women and 28% underrepresented racial or ethnic groups when the appointees take office at the first board meeting of the 2022-2023 term.
Nominees in 25 categories across film, TV, real-time, and special venue projects represent the top visual effects and animation work produced over the past year; ceremony format and venue yet to be revealed due to the ongoing pandemic.
This year’s group of distinguished VFX practitioners will be recognized at a special event this fall; also announced were VES 2021 Hall of Fame Inductees - legendary contributors to VFX and film including Roy Field, John P. Fulton, Phil Kellison, the Lumière brothers, and John Whitney, Sr.
New members Bill Baggelaar, Brooke Breton, Buzz Hays, Arjun Ramamurthy, Rachel Rose, Dave Schnuelle and Mandy Walker the council’s 2019–2020 membership roster to 25.
