In its debut week, INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS (Wein, with vfx by Die Nefzers, K.N.B. Effects Group) grabbed the #1 spot, taking in $37.M.

Falling to #2, DISTRICT 9 (TriStar, with vfx by Image Engine Design) took in $18.9M – down 49% with a total gross of $73.4M.

Still strong at #3, G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA (Paramount, with vfx by CIS Hollywood, Digital Domain, HPI and Lidar Services) earned $12.5M – down 44%. G.I. JOE has earned $120.5M so far.

Nick's iCarly Hits Another All-Time High -- Proves More Popular than NBA

NEW YORK, May 12 -- Nickelodeon's ICARLY took it to another level this week as the hour-long "iDate a Bad Boy" special (May 9, 8 p.m. ET/PT) was basic cable's overall top show among both sports and entertainment programming. ICARLY brought in 6.5 million total viewers (up +183% in delivery over last year's time period), which was +2% ahead of the number-two ranked basic cable program, the Los Angeles Lakers/Houston Rockets playoffs on TNT (Wednesday, May 6).

Nickelodeon is basic cable's top total day network for April, posting double-digit leads with its kid 2-11 target audience over competitors for the month, as well as year to date. Nickelodeon also owned the top three kid-targeted programs (SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR, ICARLY) on basic cable among total viewers in April -- and placed those three shows among all of basic cable's top five programs with total viewers for the month.

Fast & Furious Races to Record Box Office Opening

With an opening weekend gross of $70.95 million, FAST & FURIOUS had the biggest opening since last summer's mega blockbuster THE DARK KNIGHT, Universal's biggest opening ever and the biggest opening in April ever (per VARIETY).

Worldwide, the Vin Diesel-Paul Walker racing actioner, with vfx by Double Negative and Rhythm & Hues, grossed $30 million for a total of more than $100M.

Who Watches the Watchmen? Audiences Do.

Warner Bros.' long-awaited comicbook adaptation WATCHMEN opened in first place at the weekend box office, earning $55.2 million (including Thursday night showings at midnight). The film, the only wide release of the weekend, had vfx work from CIS Hollywood, Drac Studios, Gentle Giant Studios, Intelligent Creatures, Lidar Services, Moving Picture Company, Proof, Quantum Creation FX, Rising Sun Pictures, Sony Pictures Imageworks and Svengali Visual Effects.

Jonas Brothers Can't Beat Madea in Box Office Sing-off

TYLER PERRY'S MADEA GOES TO JAIL's weekend gross dropped almost 60 percent, but still came in the top spot at the box office, with $16.2 million for Lionsgate, and a two-week cume of $64.5M.

Opener JONAS BROTHERS: THE 3D CONCERT EXPERIENCE (Disney, vfx by Furious FX and Tippett Studio) placed second with $12.5M, lower than was expected. The regular theater per-screen average was healthy, though, at almost $10,000 and the film grossed $765,000 in select IMAX 3-D screens for a per-screen average of about $15,000. The limited IMAX engagement runs through March 5.

Marley & Me Charms Holiday Box Office

Fox's MARLEY & ME won the weekend box office (Dec. 26-28) with $36.4 million, earning a total of $50.7M since its Christmas Day release. The comedy starring Jennifer Aniston, Owen Wilson and 22 dogs had vfx by At The Post, LOOK! Effects and Lola Visual Effects.

The film's $14.75M first day was the largest Christmas Day opening in motion picture history.

Jetix Acquires Total Drama Island For U.K. Channel

Jetix Europe has signed a deal with Cake Distribution to broadcast top rated U.S. tween sitcom, TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND, on its U.K. channel.

TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND, created by Jennifer Pertsch and Tom McGillis and produced by Fresh TV, blends event programming and cartoon comedy with a reality TV elimination format. The TV series, which has been a huge ratings success in the U.S., is the first animated, reality show to appear on Jetix's U.K. channel and follows other recent successful acquisitions including DINOSAUR KING and POKEMON DP BATTLE DIMENSION.

Total Drama Action Sold To Cartoon Network U.S.

Cake Distribution has sold FRESH TV's TOTAL DRAMA ACTION, the spinoff to TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND (TDI), to Cartoon Network U.S. TDI has been a hit on Cartoon Network's Thursday night line-up and has developed a substantial following both on-air and online.

Viewers on the program's interactive Web site have created more than two million unique avatars within three months of the series premiere.

Cake Distribution and FRESH TV have signed a new worldwide distribution deal for FRESH TV's TOTAL DRAMA ACTION series -- the sequel to their animated reality series TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND. The new deal brings all the drama to a wider market than TOTAL DRAMA ISLAND.

FRESH TV's original series became a breakout success on TELETOON, drawing a strong audience in a growing list of markets, both on-air and online, and can currently be seen on the Cartoon Network in the U.S.

Box Office Results: Moviegoers Hear A Who

CG-animated DR. SEUSS' HORTON HEARS A WHO! won over the weekend (ending March 16) box office in its debut, grossing more than $45 million.

The Fox adaptation of the classic Seuss book opened in 3,954 theaters for an average of $11,406 per screen.

Winning the No. 2 spot was 10,000 B.C. (Warner Bros, vfx by MPC and Double Negative) with an additional $16.4 million take.

New release NEVER BACK DOWN (Summit Entertainment) made just $8.6 million, fighting its way into third place.

Will Ferrell's Afro Wins Weekend Box Office

Will Ferrell vehicle SEMI-PRO (New Line) got the slam-dunk on the weekend (ending March 2) box office, making $15.2 million in its debut.

Dropping by one slot was assassination thriller VANTAGE POINT, (Sony, vfx by CIS) pulling in $13 million for a total gross of $41 M.

Paramount's THE SPIDERWICK CHRONICLES (vfx by Tippett Studio and ILM) also dropped one spot to third place, making $8.8M.

The children's fantasy flick has made a cumulative $55M.
