2009 Educational Television Awards Call for EntriesDeadline: April 17, 2009

The Royal Television Society has launched the call for entries for the 2009 Educational Television Awards. The awards aim to recognize outstanding contributions to the educational use of television content available across platforms, including terrestrial TV and online.

Animacam.tv, the online animation festival, is now open to submissions for its second edition. Submissions are due by August 31, 2009.

Celeste Prize Call for EntriesDeadline: June 30, 2009

Celeste Prize is a unique international contemporary arts competition in which artists decide who wins the 40,000 Euro (US$50,000) award money. The 46 finalists are chosen by a panel of international art critics: Mark Gisbourne, Adrienne Goehler, Victoria Lu, Claudio Sinatti and a panel of consultants with experience in audiovisual performance. These 46 finalists themselves choose the ultimate winners in each category. Exhibition and awards ceremony to be held in Berlin, Germany, September 2009.

NVIDIA Corporation, inventor of the GPU, has launched the GPU Ventures Program, a new global initiative whose aim is to identify, support and invest in early stage companies leveraging the GPU for visual and other computing applications. NVIDIA is also launching the GPU Venture Zone website, a portal to publicly showcase the innovative GPU applications being developed by its ecosystem partners.

London-based multiplatform distributor Digital Rights Group have partnered with L.A.-based online filmmaking community Filmaka (www.filmaka.com) to sponsor a short film competition around the theme of "Hard Times." The winners win a cash prize plus the chance of being propelled to the movie making major league. If their three-minute short film submitted is selected, the distributor is offering the winners the opportunity to turn it into a TV series, movie or Web series.
