The fourteenth edition of Milano Film Festival will take place September 11-20, 2009.
The feature film competition is open to first and second films of any genre, language, format and running time, provided that they were completed after January 1, 2008. The works will not be divided into categories.
PooP, in association with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London International Animation Festival (LIAF) and the Global Handwashing Day coalition have launched a competition for short animation films, which tackle the serious issues of hygiene and sanitation in an engaging and thought-provoking way.

ASIFA-East is now accepting entries for the 40th Animation Festival. Films are due by March 2, judging begins March 10 and the awards ceremony will be May 3.
Only up-to-date ASIFA-East members may vote in the jury screenings, but it is possible to join or renew a membership that evening. Non members are welcome to attend, but will not be allowed to vote

Stella Artois, film networking site TriggerStreet.com and award-winning actor Kevin Spacey announced a new award program designed to help independent filmmakers. The program, called the Stella Artois Short Film Project, will provide a $50,000 cash award to one lucky filmmaker who submits an entry to TriggerStreet.com. The film, which must be no longer than 10 minutes, will be judged by the TriggerStreet.com community as well as a panel of high-level actors, directors and producers. The first winner will be unveiled and his/her short film premiered later this year.
