The London International Animation Festival is Britain's premier showcase for independent animation screening annually, at the beginning of September, showcasing one of the largest collections of auteur independent animation gathered at any festival in the world.
Reed MIDEM and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (I.A.T.A.S.), have announced the launch of the fourth International Digital Emmy Awards (I.D.E.A.), to take place at MIPTV (March 30-April 3, 2009 Cannes, France). The call for entries runs until January 12, 2009.
The International Digital Emmy Awards are recognizing excellence in content created and designed for viewer interaction and/or delivery on a digital platform (interactive TV, mobile, Internet, etc.) originating outside of the United States.

VES is now accepting entries for its first-ever Student Award. The deadline for submissions is December 5, 2008, and the winning student will receive the award live at the 7th Annual VES Awards Show, to be held on February 21, 2009 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The Thirty-Second Film Contest For AustraliaDeadline: November 12, 2008
Twentieth Century Fox's upcoming romantic adventure AUSTRALIA and Metacafe launched "The Thirty-Second Film Contest" on October 24. The contest challenges aspiring film editors to use materials from the film as well as their own creative "spin" -- including visual effects, music, and voice-over -- to put together a :30 spot for the film.
Adult Swim is teaming up with Burger King Corp. to find America's next "sweetheart." Through a nationwide casting call kicking off on November 3, Adult Swim and Burger King Corp. will encourage those who look like, or know someone who looks like, the sweaty, hairy Carl character from AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE to be part of an opportunity to play the role in next year's first-ever live-action special episode.
Animation Block Party will open for 2009 festival submissions on January 12.

The call for entries has begun for the eighth edition of the International Festival of Animated Films. AniFest 2009 will be held in two different locations, Trebon from May 1-4, 2009 and Teplice from May 7-10, 2009.
A written application and a copy of the film on DVD or VHS needs to be delivered to the organizer's registered office no later than December 16, 2008.
