Return Of The Project Twenty1 Filmmaking Competition

Project Twenty1 is now accepting team signups for its 2008 Filmmaking Competition. Filmmakers eager to take on the challenge are invited to participate and bring a brand-new film from concept to screen in 21 Days this summer. The competition's launch event, where all filmmaking teams will learn the secret "Element" that their film must include, will take place Saturday, July 19 and their films will be due at the drop event on August 9, 21 days later.

Emmy award-winning Toon Boom Animation launched the Animation Festival, Caribbean and Latin America Edition, in partnership with the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT). Targeting the 2008 Animae Caribe Festival (September 25-27, 2008) as the venue to showcase the top ten finalists and winners, this online animation festival is open to creative minds based in the Caribbean and Latin America. The two-minute animated entries must be developed around the theme: Bridging the Caribbean and Latin America through the Arts and Local Festivals.

Unproduced 2008: Animation Deadline Approaching

Zoinks! Frustrated over having your animated spec rejected like Pepe Le Pew or blown to smithereens like Wile E. Coyote strapped to an Acme rocket? Well, that's not all, folks! Now you can submit to WRITTEN BY and have it considered for publication in its annual unproduced scripts issue.

This year the magazine will focus on TV pilots and feature-length scripts in the animation genre. Only one original teleplay or screenplay per WGA member currently in good standing will be considered, and you must own the rights to publish the material.

Humans Meet Aliens At The CGSociety

The CGSociety has launched the largest CGChallenge ever, with more than $100,000 in prizes.

In this, the 22nd CGChallenge, entrants are challenged to depict the relations between humans and aliens. Teams are invited to enter Videos while individual entrants can enter into either Image or Video categories.

In addition, there are nine special skills awards up for grabs: Modeling, Texturing, Animation, Lighting, Visual Effects, Landscape/Matte Painting, Art Direction, Compositing and Editing, and Best Character.

Submissions Requested for FJORG!

ACM SIGGRAPH officially announced the opening of submissions for FJORG!, the International Animation Contest taking place at the upcoming SIGGRAPH conference, August 11-15 2008 in Los Angeles, California, USA.

FJORG! is an "iron animator" event in which competing teams from around the world have 32 hours to create a 15-second, character-driven animation while adhering to at least one of two themes and facing multiple distractions. The online submission system is now open, and submission and uploaded materials are due by May 7 2008.

Radiohead Animated Video Competition

Aniboom, the premiere independent animation network and TBD Records have launched a contest inviting all creators and Radiohead fans from across the globe to produce an animated music video for any one of the songs from the bands latest album, IN RAINBOWS.

The contest, to be separated into four stages, will culminate with the selection by the members of Radiohead of a winner who will be awarded a $10,000 prize to produce a full-length animated music video.

Xbox 360 Content Creation Contest

Disruptive Media Publishers (DP), the leading provider of lifestyle customization content (gamer pictures and themes) for Xbox LIVE on Xbox 360, announced the official launch of the DP Content Creation Challenge. This marks the first time that individual artists have had the opportunity to get their unique content published on Xbox LIVE Marketplace as downloadable Xbox 360 themes, which can then be purchased by the over 10 million members using Microsoft Points.

The contest kicks off on March 17, 2008, and runs until April 28, 2008.
