Reed MIDEM and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (I.A.T.A.S.) announced the launch of the fourth International Digital Emmy Awards (I.D.E.A.), to take place at MIPTV (March 30-April 3, 2009 Cannes, France). The call for entries runs until January 12, 2009.

The International Digital Emmy Awards are recognizing excellence in content created and designed for viewer interaction and/or delivery on a digital platform (i.e. interactive TV, mobile, internet, etc.) originating outside of the United States.

ELAN Awards Extends Submission Deadline

The 3rd Annual ELAN Awards have extended their submission deadline. Top titles from video games, animation and visual effects from all around the world are expected to enter the global award show.

The early bird deadline and material deadline has been moved to December 19 in order to accommodate submissions.

MyToons.com Launches Toons for Tots

MyToons.com, has launched its latest artwork and animation challenge, Toons for Tots.

In the celebratory spirit of the upcoming holidays, the Toons for Tots challenge calls for artists to submit their holiday-inspired creations for the chance to have a donation made in their name to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. Both new and old works are welcome, and artists are invited to share every holiday inspiration, from Hanukkah cartoons to New Year's e-cards.

Stuttgart Submissions Deadlines Extended

Stuttgart received several requests whether applications for the categories Animated Series and AniMovie (animated feature-length films) will still be accepted after December 1. Since some of the pre-selection committees will start their work only in January, they decided to extend the deadline for these two categories to December 31, 2008.

Applications for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' 36th Student Academy Awards competition are now available. The Student Academy Awards is a national annual competition designed to recognize and encourage promising new filmmakers.

Applications and a complete list of rules are available online at www.oscars.org/saa. All entry forms for the 2009 Student Academy Awards must be submitted electronically. Additionally, filmmakers must send a DVD of their film and a hard copy of their signed application to the appropriate regional coordinator.
