I've had a Wacom stylus tablet for something like 3 years now. It's taken me most of that time to get comfortable with it, but I've always wondered about ways to make it more comfortable and allow me more control over the pen.
Drawing on an incline works best for me, and I finally put together a prototype from foam board, with plans to make a more refined one from plywood later on. turns out the foam one works fine. I haven't had to fasten the tablet with anything, though I planned to use velcro. I've got a weight behind holding it on the table and the uprights have curved lip to hold the edge of the desk.

you got there rupert. i figure the steep incline would give you more smoother strokes. it would easily tire my hand though.
a larger sized tablet might help you if you do wide hand movements.
but your setup looks just like a Harley! and that sword looks perfect for keeping those pesky onlookers away.
Don't worry. All shall be well.
thanks! I kind of forgot the sword was there. What really kills is the salt you see on top of the scanner!!

Scanners and salt go way back. Even says it on the package. "When it rains, it ports."
I'm wondering about the spaghetti sauce on the camera stand. Where do you work, man - in your kitchen? ;)
Hey, the kitchen is a move UP! I used to work on a computer out in the garage! The bonus then (I was writing at that time, not really drawing yet) was that if I hit a writer's block I could turn around and break out the wrenches on the bike.
Seriously, the salt is in there 1) as a paper weight and 2) when I do watercolor I sometimes use salt on my sky to create atmosphere effects while the paint is still wet.
The spaghetti sauce is a trick I learned--pouring it on your keyboard quiets the sound the keys make and lets you concentrate on what's really important--keeping your fingers clean!

Now that's a nifty gadget you've made there Rupert, it'll be just like painting on an easel - something I'll bear in mind once I've cleaned up the computer table, I've got a NISIS tablet and haven't got used to drawing on the flat so your idea might help.
thanks very much for sharing

I'm starting a tech section of my website (which seems like a hoax considering I'm relatively new to this stuff) and will put plans for this thing there pretty soon. Turns out the foam is starting to show some flex, so I'll be making the wood version soon.
