Um, what I'm noticing is that there doesn't seem to be anticipation pose which would then propel the sitting character upwards. (keep the 12 principles in mind)
p.s. posting mov files are helpful becuase I can check the animation frame by frame, whereas I can't do this with an avi file easily.
well i have to agree with JerryK that the animation doesnt respect many of the " 12 principles " but i'm not sure because if you cant see it frame by frame its really hard to say. I think you have to give a little more of exaggeration so there's no doubt about the principles.
Don't be discouraged and try to work on the "dinosaur" jump
hey thanks JerryK , juako
i think i'll have to work hard, well will post it another format :)

I am new in 3D animations, you mentioned "keep in mind the 12 principles" I would like to know which are them? Thanks.

Mandeep, your latest links don't work.
jesmychaff, do a web search for "animation principles" and you should come up with several entries listing the principles and describing them.

i have fixed the links sorry for the trouble:D :)
Movie crashes FireFox and simply doesn't play in IE for me. If you want your stuff seen by the most people possible, I suggest using QuickTime if you can. Good luck.
Thanks man here is the quicktime version ....

The landing that begins the jump is looking decent. The leg that pops out straight, try holding for a frame or two longer so it has time to read and benefit from the compression. After it does compress, the leg kind sticks like that as he darts into the air. Work so that there's a change in that leg, or loosen it up, or maybe your best alternative would be to "dart forward" with the knee on the other leg. Also work on varying the timing between the in-air bits and the squashing up to jump bits.
On the punch, the line of action is weak. He looks like a boy impersonating a girl throwing a light plastic ball. His body does not say "I am going to hit something with a lot of force, so here I am preparing to do that." Get his body more into it, stronger lean, etc. and the punch itself goes by so quick that it's almost invisible. Since that's the payoff it'd be nice to actually see it. The movement of his body doesn't look like it relates at all to the force he exerts in the whole second half, and rather than respond to the shock of everything that's going on, the clip ends with him motionless.
hey thanks ScatteredLogical, will do the changes as suggested hope it turns out nice :D anyways will post the udates soon

On the baseball one, you need to sit down on carefully watch some baseball batters. Also look at a bunch of pictures online of guys swinging. The action is wrong, especially once the swing gets going. In the middle of his swing his butt is pointing back and he is bent forward at the waist with the bat hanging out front.
Because the swing action is wrong, him getting hit with the ball has really no impact. Your anticipation of the ball coming is good - you just need to get the swing right.
Then, when he is about to get hit by the ball, he ducks before the ball hits him. Did he duck into the ball while trying to avoid it? It's an odd thing, and again it's also because the swing is off. See if you can find some video of a guy getting beaned and watch how he would attempt to move but get hit anyway. When a baseball player gets beaned, he tries to move but because the ball is coming at 80MPH+ he just can't get out of the way.
When he 'jumps back' after getting hit - that motion doesn't really make sense physically. You would have to bend down at the hips to jump back like that. Getting hit in the head like that, you'd fall down to the ground, not jump back - you'd be trying to protect your head.
The basic jump is pretty good (The first movie). Keep it up!

hey thanks tom well i just come down to it well the batter is not a pro bats man he is just a fresher..... he is trying to hit it with an odd swing coz he dont konw how to swing nd as a result gets one on the head ........ hmm well he ducks into the ball nd it hits him right in the head ......... i kind of agree abt the end after the hit like that he should just fall dead YEAH i got it now i'll make him fall after the hit bt after my story you think i should work on the swing well this is a part of my short movie i m working on he is suppose to be a dumb guy trying to hit like a pro nd misses bandly thats wat i wanted to show well i guess i m not able to show quite clearly
help me out here wat u think
cheers

If the idea was that he was an inexperienced ballplayer, I missed that. I think the swing still needs to be based in reality. He can still swing really badly and miss - all great animation/characterization has its basis in reality.
This is why life drawing is so important to an artist. When you know the rules, you have more knowledge about bending those rules to make things interesting.
That's why I suggested studying batters. When you know what a good swing looks like, you can characterize a bad swing and make it work. :)
Hope that helps. Good luck.
Okie Dokie i'll work on the clip as i was reading ur clip i managed to get some real swing action nd he he mine is kind of off very off :D yeah i'll modify it nd will post the update thanks man ....... really appreciate ur help
cheers

The jump is looking pretty nice. There are still a few things to watch out for. Like the arc on his far foot when it comes down to push off for the big jump. It should follow a nice arc and plant further forward. Most people if they are going to jump one foot first plant their feet farther apart. This will give longer, sustained power for a longer jump.
You have nice overlapping action with the head when he lands, but it's lacking in the torso. Try slowly reversing the curve of his torso and neck from the bottom up.
Check out these guys. http://youtube.com/watch?v=IGSOLw3vI8o
They move pretty fast, and you can't frame by frame it, but it might give you some good reference. These guys are called "free runners" so you can type that into the search bar on Youtube.com.
