Here's my WIP for my Animation Mentor short. http://www.animatedape.com/605.mov It's still in blocking mode, and the timing still needs to be adjusted.
Here's what it was based off of that Pascal encouraged me to do. http://www.animatedape.com/muni.mov
It's actually interesting seeing what adjustments I need to do to make things work in 3D over 2D. Although I think I could've done some of the 2D things if I had control over squash and stretch and motion blurs.

great stuff
clothing looks pretty tough to pull off in 3d though - are you planning to use a plugin like syflex?
Thanks Jerry. Nope not going to use syflex for the clothing, because I have no idea what that even is. :D I don't know any of that kind of stuff. All I know how to do is character animation, and even that's debateable. The only things I'm changing other than animation stuff is a better model of the brief case, and change the scale of the city around him. I'm pretty much a 3D dunce.

Nice poses, i think there excellent!! the timing i think its right , the only suggestion is to make him come before the bus its totally out of the screen to make the situation even more frustrating.
Again i love the poses:D
I like both of them. When do you guys start working on sound?
Thanks Wontobe. We can have sound now, and I'll probably foley my short in the last couple of weeks. Just so I know that the timing is all right and everything. We've been working with audio clips since around class three. I'm in Class 6 now. This is the final semester for me at AM. So hopefully I'll soon be working in 3D. Never know, I might be sitting next to Kevan soon! :p

Here's my latest version. http://www.animatedape.com/607.mov Moving out of stepped mode blocking into spline mode. Hopefully I'll foley it next week after I've fully locked down the timing. As it is now, there are a few timing tweeks I have to change now that it's in spline mode.

That last link didn't work. This version is alittle farther along. http://www.animatedape.com/608b.mov I have to work out the parenting of the briefcase to the hand, so I've been kind of avoiding those shots, and will tackle them this week. Still a lot of work left. :(

Hi Ape! Have you tried a parent constraint?
you can switch it on and off (well, animate it on and off).... It is better that actually parenting the briefcase to his hand. You still have to the hand poses a bit but, at least it is easier and gives you more freedom than parenting the hand and animating the visibility of the object (I used to do that and it was a royal pain in the :D )
by, the way, it looks great!

Thanks for the advice Fazendinha. Others at school mentioned the same thing. I don't know Maya that well, so it'll take some time to figure that out. I better do it soon, times running out! :(

I can give you a "virtual" hand if you want... it is pretty easy! :) I'm no computer buff, so if I can do it, you can do it too!
It isn't worth fretting about it, you're getting the most difficult (animation, of course) part down quite nicely.

Hmmm, at the beginning of the reel them feet look like wooden planks sliding/shuffling along the floor---no flexing at all. It's ironic because the closeup shot is of the feet! Finally the feet come alive when the character stomps on the suit case. But sadly it's back to the wooden planks as the character heads towards the pole.
By the way, what's with the same standard model/character for them student demo reels that I've seen time and time again? How about allowing some originality in character modeling/construction, huh, animation mentor???
The reason, in my opinion, is that Animation Mentor is teaching animation not modeling. One learns to drawn then one animates, or I draw there fore I can animate.:D
Read my reply in the AM demo reel thread.
My short isn't finished yet, so it's in various stages of blocking, refining and polishing. I'm glad you liked the feet when he's stomping on the case. I put a lot of effort into that.
