Just watched it for the first time in years, probably since it was released in theatres. What struck me, was it looked like it was put together by a committee, and after viewing the backscene stuff on the second disc, it was.
What's your take on this film. I know it pulled Disney out of a slump, but you have to admit the animation was all over the place. I particularly had problems with Lucifer the cat. But the human animations except for the King and the Duke were really out of place most of the film. I'd rather a film was done in one style then a multiple.

I like to watch the cat (pet of the mother).
June Foray, who did the voice of the cat, once told me that originally tha cat did more than meow. It was her first role for Disney - that cat actually had some dialogue...but it was cut from the movie.
My favorite scene was the one where the dress is refurbished my the mice and birds.
Thanks.

That's my favorite scene also.

I remember I always loved the animation of the king, the actual story of cinderella couldn't impress me much :P
the only reason why I often watch the dvd is for the 'tribute to the nine old men' extra :P
for some reason, if I watch that, I just want to animate like hell... :p
The mice and the birds are pretty cool too, but the rest of it is crap, when I view it today.

They'd pioneered live action incorporation in Snow White, but I haven't viewed it in forever. The use of it in Cinderella just wasn't well incorporated from what I watched. Maybe it was for it's time. But it grated on my nerves.

Overall, I think there were more good scenes than bad - the bubbles, the mice, the dress making, bippity-boppity-boo, the evil stepmother. I thought there was real suspense when she's locked in the attic.
I never particularly liked the prince or the king.
My kids liked the magic. I loved how the fairy godmother had to shake her wand to get it going. And the design of the coach and horses was beautiful. I also liked when the magic ended and it all transformed back.
Very clever in parts, (a little) dull in others.
