About a week and a half ago, I got an e-mail from a studio in London called Guru-X, saying they found my resume (or CV, as they say in England) here on AWN, asking if I'd be willing to do a Flash test for a new project they're working on. If hired, one would work on a project-by-project basis, receiving half of the payment in advance, half upon completion. The e-mail was definitely a form, and in no way personalized -- not even a "Dear Mr. So-and-So" at the header.
My question is, is anyone familiar with this studio? Their address is http://www.guru-x.com
They seem to have no archived work to speak of on their site, which makes me more than a little wary. I wrote back, and they sent me some templates and material. They previously said the test would be 30 seconds, but it now looks to be over a minute and a half, which seems like a hell of a big test, especially considering we're not even at any sort of negotiating phase right now. Again, I'm wary, and I'd hate to waste my time and get screwed over on a shady deal, but I'm really desparate for work right now. Any advice?
Thanks!
Yeah sounds like spec work to me. Be cautious. You'll end up putting a lot into it and maybe get nothing out of it. Depends on how hungry you are.

Fishy. Apply common sense. Good luck.
