The American Cinematheque will be hosting a retrospective of Oskar Fischinger work in celebration of Bill Mortiz's new book OPTICAL POETRY. Screenings include: ALLEGRETTO (3 versions), COMPOSITION IN BLUE, RADIO DYNAMICS, MOTION PAINTING NO. 1, KREISE, LIEBESSPIEL and STUDIES. Program includes 35mm prints of films restored by the Academy Film Archive from original nitrates. Signed copies of OPTICAL POETRY will be available for sale at the screening. Barbara Fischinger, Mr. Fischinger's daughter, will be in attendance. This event is co-sponsored by California Institute of the Arts, Center for Visual Music, Filmforum and The Fischinger Archive, and feature prints preserved by The Academy Film Archive from Fischinger's original nitrates.
