Cinanima International Animated Film Festival

Since 1977, Cinanima has been promoting the international art of animation in Espinho, a city located on the Northern coast of Portugal. Every year, the Cinanima International Animated Film Festival presents an international animation competition program, as well as retrospectives and exhibitions.

Second Annual Week With The Masters

As part of the second Annual Week with the Masters Festival, the festival will include for the first time, an animation competition. The competition, open to independent animation artists from India and south Asia, including students, offers a Grand Prize of US$2000 in prize money and $1000 for winners in each of the competition categories. This year's 10 masters will serve as jurors for the competition, and include David Fine, Piet Kroon, Gerald Potterton, Joanna Priestley, Normand Rogers and Alison Snowden.

The 8th Annual San Luis Obispo International Film Festival

The San Luis Obispo Festival and its George Sidney Independent Film Competition showcases art in independent filmmaking. Melbourne International Student Animation Festival

The Melbourne International Student Animation Festival (MISAF) is being organized by the Melbourne Animation Posse in partnership with Cinemedia specifically to showcase the best of student animation from around the world. A jury will select the films to go forward into the competition screenings. Tapes of all films (including those not selected for competition screenings) will be available on request to festival-goers who wish to view them on a monitor in the festival lounge. All MISAF screenings are from tape rather than film print. All selected films will receive a certificate.

The 28th Annual ASIFA-Hollywood Annie Awards

Promoted by the University of Brighton, the festival features performances, film screenings, exhibitions and workshops for both adults and children. The festival tours to various locations around the U.K. including Birmingham, Bracknell, Ludlow, Oxford, Portsmouth, Walsall, Walton on Thames, Jersey and Kent. Anima Mundi Web

Anima Mundi Web is Brazil's international animation Web competition. The event is open to all countries and work must be in Flash and gif formats. The festival will pre-select 20 animations and an international jury will vote for the winners. The international jury will consist of the people that have registered on the Anima Mundi Festival Web site. Submissions can be sent on VHS tapes, but for screening a film print or a BETACAM SP PAL tape must be provided.
