3d animated motion trail?

I'm trying to duplicate a 3d motion trail/extrude effect like the one in the "Sweater Porn" short on http://media2.mk12.com/mk12_version_five.html.
I'm working in After Effects, anyone know any plugins or techniques to re-create this effect? Thanks!
