independent 3d film

In our school we are required to make independent films in the span of 20 weeks. The last project I did was in traditional 2D and I want to venture into making a simple 3D film for my next project- that would involve me modeling, rigging, lighting, animating, etc.

I have some ideas on how to simplify my work process, but does anyone have any advise or tips on how to independently tackle a 3d film and make it a successful, finished piece?

Thanks

Did your teacher give any details, like length or any other guide lines?

well, the films are basically expected to be finished pieces. Unlike other schools where students focus on any one aspect of animation in their projects (craft-tracking), all aspects of the film have to be polished in our films, including audio...

There is no minimum or maximum time limits. I understand the processes of filmmaking and have worked with 3D before, but since i've never made a complete 3d film, I was looking for some pointers and feedback as to how I should proceed with my work.

My idea is somewhat simple in my head- there will be just one location (a table near a wall) where the entire film would take place, one character, and models of different variations of clocks on the wall. The soundtrack would be simple and diagetic.. No dialogue. As far as character design, I've started another thread (rigging Norman) to get some feedback about that.. Since I would like to submit my films for festivals after they are completed, I don't want to modify pre-existing rigs..

Thanks..
