You should think about doing drill work as well as what you are currently doing.
Perhaps do some basic exercises week before working on your current project, like bounce a ball.
This is not bad for a first project. But I agree that maybe you should practice the 12 principles. I know I am working on that myself. Each project you do should start with a basic run through of the 12 animation principles. I hope this makes sense. But it works good as an animatic.
