Animated ‘Evil Dead’ Project in Development

Franchise star Bruce Campbell explains, ‘We are developing an animated version, like a series, that will center on, innocent people being tortured by a malicious entity, and it’s people who have no skills to stop it.’

Evil Dead star Bruce Campbell has announced an animated installment to the franchise. Although the actor stepped down from the role after the cancellation of the 2015 series Ash vs Evil Dead, it seems the project was too good to pass up. He first hinted at the show in 2022.

“We are developing an animated version, like a series,” he said to Entertainment Weekly. “I’ll do that. I’ll do Ash’s voice all day long because my voice hasn’t aged as much as I have.”

Explaining the project, Campball explained, “We’re out of the cabin, Sam [Raimi] doesn’t have to direct, I don’t have to star as Ash. The trick is to take the elements that people like, which is innocent people being tortured by a malicious entity, and it’s people who have no skills to stop it.”

No further development details have been announced.
