Atomic heads to MIPCOM with three new series, the animated Scapegoats and Max Mashup, and Minimum Wage, a live action-animation hybrid featuring two 15-year-olds on a mission.
Cannes, FRANCE – Vancouver-based Atomic Cartoons is taking three exciting new shows currently in development -- featuring goats, boys and gizmos -- to MIPCOM this season, including one that combines live action and animation, a departure for the studio.
The three shows include:
Scapegoats, an 11 minute episodic comedy series that follows the medieval adventures of three young goats trying to get through the Middle Ages without coming down with a bad case of helmet hair, mange or ending up on the wrong side of the King’s feast. As luck would have it, they also happen to have been cursed by an evil wizard, which means the trio is on the run…from everyone.
Max Mashup is an animation comedy for 7 to 11 years olds. When Max finds a strange discarded sci-fi gizmo in his neighbor’s trash he cleans it up and gets it working when ZAAAPPP! It's a Mash-Up ray, combining everything in Max's room with the town’s humans and animals...cool! Now he just needs to undo the damage. Eventually.
Minimum Wage, a combined live action and animation comedy for 8 to 12 year olds, features Ethan and Dylan, two 15-year-olds on a mission. Next year they turn 16 and get their drivers’ licences. And they have an old car they can fix up and use. One problem: No money. Easy fix...they just need to get jobs, or better yet, create a foolproof plan to get rich quick.
“We’re delighted to be able to present a slate of what we think are three very funny original properties,” says Rob Davies, partner and head of development, Atomic Cartoons. “We’re looking forward to MIPCOM and showing the industry our latest development ideas.”
Atomic will be participating at MIPCOM 2013 with Telefilm Canada in the Canadian Pavilion. Atomic Cartoons, a full service award winning independent animation company based in Vancouver, creates and produces both original properties such as Pirate Express and Atomic Betty, as well as co-productions like Rocket Monkeys.
