Available for iOS and Android, game based on Janet Perlman’s ‘Monsieur Pug’ 2014 animated short takes users on a crazy adventure with a paranoid dog that loves origami and ice cream.
MONTREAL, QC -- Frima Studio and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) have announced the release of the mobile geolocation game Where’s Monsieur Pug?, available for free on the App Store and Google Play Store (iOS and Android). Where’s Monsieur Pug? is a wacky mobile game, combining augmented reality and geocaching, in which the players must hide spy pugs around town and try to find the ones hidden by other players. Like Pokémon Go, Where’s Monsieur Pug? uses the device’s camera to insert virtual pugs in the real-world background, with which the player must then interact.
Where’s Monsieur Pug? is based on the Monsieur Pug (2014) animated short by filmmaker Janet Perlman, co-scripted by Québécois novelist and playwright Larry Tremblay. It tells the crazy story of a paranoid, anxious dog who loves origami and ice cream, and who is convinced he’s the victim of a vast conspiracy. Monsieur Pug streams free of charge in the NFB.ca screening Room.

As a member of a mysterious organization, your mission is simple: use your smartphone to track Monsieur Pug’s every move. Hire Pugs—double agents—and post them in various strategic locations across town. Is your target hiding behind the convenience store? In the mall? On the bridge? On the other side of town? Post your Pugs and keep your eyes peeled! Find Pugs hidden by other agents to rise within the organization and acquire the means to equip your pugs with fancy and adorable accessories, which will increase your chances of completing your main mission: finding Monsieur Pug!
