interfilm 2007 - 23. International Short Film Festival Berlin is one of the premiere short film festivals in the world. An audience of 14,000 saw more than 500 short film productions from 48 countries at last years event. A prominent jury awarded prizes amounting to 40,000 Euro.
International juries will present "interfilm Short Awards" in the following competitions: International, German, Documentary, Children's Short Film as well as the categories "Confrontations - Films Against Violence and Intolerance" and "Eject - the Long Night of Films that Went Astray."
Aside from these competitions the 23rd. International Short Film Festival interfilm Berlin 2007 will highlight film productions from South Korea and Eastern Europe. Continuing emphasis will be placed upon the documentary genre, and in addition to a variety of film programs workshops and panels remain important festival centerpieces.
Even the children's program will be expanded upon by the inclusion of a documentary program. Moreover, a workshop for school children will also take place again this year, where 9-11 year-olds are asked to write screenplays and make their own film on the subject of 'Being Foreign - Being Different.' A further addition to the children's program in 2007 is the introduction of a program for youths aged 12 +.
Furthermore the 23rd. International Short Film Festival interfilm Berlin will continue to present selections of historical short films, experimental films, local heroes, music-clips, ads and an extensive variety of thematic programs.
