NVIDIA Quadro Plex Now Shipping

NVIDIA Corp. announced that the Quadro Plex 1000, the first dedicated visual computing system (VCS), is now shipping in volume and available directly from the NVIDIA store at the company website or authorized partners.

The NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS, available in three models, is designed to interface with standard workstations and servers to deliver advanced scalability for demanding professional applications, including those powering multiple streams of 4K high-definition video, digital content creation and visual effects, 3D styling and design, scientific and medical visualization, oil and gas exploration, or visual simulation and training.

"Since the launch of the NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS at SIGGRAPH 2006, demand for the product has far exceeded our expectations," said Dan Vivoli, svp, marketing at NVIDIA. "This innovative new visual computing system is redefining and streamlining the way companies create, deliver and view complex data sets and visual content."

Available in a desktop or 3U rackmount configuration, utilizing NVIDIA SLI multi-GPU technology, the NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS provides:

* Massive density improvement of up to 20x more than traditional GPU solutions

* Performance of up to 80-billion pixels/sec and seven billion vertices/sec

* Resolutions as high as 148 megapixels on 16 synchronized digital-output channels and eight HD SDI channels

* Advanced scalability offers multiple configurationsfrom single system to clustered solutions

The NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS 1000 is compatible with an officially certified set of x86 32- and 64-bit Intel and AMD processors running Windows and Linux operating systems.

Since the unveiling in early August, the NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS has received industry praise and attention, with major installations at automotive, geosciences, advanced research and design companies worldwide.

In addition, authorized partners such as PNY Technologies (U.S. and Europe), Elsa (Japan), Leadtek (Asia/Pacific), HP, Sun Microsystems, BOXX Technologies, Colfax International, Verari Systems and Wortman will be offering NVIDIA Quadro Plex to customers.

"HP is dedicated to providing workstation customers with the industry's most powerful and easy-to-use tools for enhancing graphics performance," said Will Wade, worldwide product manager, Personal Workstations, HP. "The NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS delivers advanced scalability for our customers' most demanding applications, which include everything from scientific visualization to complex 3D animation, digital content creation and more."

"The NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS is a powerful way to deliver advanced graphics and visualization on workstations," said Tim Lawrence, vp of engineering and operations, BOXX Technologies. "With the NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS, BOXX customers in the VFX industry now have a scalable, multi-GPU solution that can tackle their most demanding graphics requirements.

"The NVIDIA Quadro Plex VCS enables our customers to support the latest ultra high-resolution video panels with resolutions up to 3840 x 2160, as well as high-resolution 16-screen video walls from a single workstation or visualization server," added David Driggers, CTO of Verari Systems. "When used in conjunction with Verari Systems' workstation products, customers can render, edit and visualize their largest data streams in full resolution with a truly scalable solution that is ideal for the seismic and high-end graphics industries such as oil and gas discovery and medical imaging."
