Paramount Animation is courting Oscar winner and Blue Sky co-founder Chris Wedge to direct a new combination live-action/computer animation feature titled Monster Trucks for a planned opening on May 29, 2015, according to Deadline.
The studio is reportedly in final negotiations with Wedge (Ice Age, Robots, Epic) to direct the planned $100 million budget feature, which is slated to begin production in the first half of 2014. Mary Parent is signed on to produce, from a script written by Jonathan Aibel & Glenn Berger.
The studio also announced that big screen sequel SpongeBob SquarePants 2 will open February 15, 2015.
