ResPower Inc. has announced the free beta release of the ResPower Uploader Plugin for Discreets 3ds max and Alias Maya. This allows users to upload their 3D source files to ResPower's render farm directly from 3ds max or Maya without using FTP software. The software is the first self-service render farm, a collection of computers that work together to turn a 3D wire frame animation into a full-colored image sequence. Users only have to log onto the site and render.
ResPower's co-founder, Early Ehlinger, said, "One of our goals for the ResPower Render Farm is to make it as simple to use as a network printer. The Uploader Plugin brings us one step closer to that goal. 3ds studio max and Maya users can now benefit from the incredible rendering speed our facilities give them without the hassle of packing up their files. It removes a lot of the guesswork. Simply fill in some fields and hit the 'begin upload' button. The Uploader puts everything where it needs to be on our server."
ResPower, founded in December 2000 with a little over 30 computers, has expanded to more than 250 computers. Owners Early Ehlinger and Ladd Ehlinger Jr. introduced beta testing of self-service Internet rendering in November 2002 for LightWave, and have since added Maya and 3ds max rendering.
