Digital puppetry series about a father and son who just can’t seem to connect was created by special effects artist Ben Bayouth, who also designed and built the puppets and voices Blark, the father alongside son Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (the production company behind Robot Chicken run by Seth Green, Matt Senreich, John Harvatine IV and Eric Towner) has launched a new micro-content show called Blark & Son in partnership with Instagram for their platform.
This puppet series is the first time anything like this has been done before especially for an independent animation studio branching into digital-only content. The show launched last week. Celebs and influencers like Bob Saget and Jon Sandman, among others, have already come out as fans of the unique show.
The idea, about a father and son who just can’t seem to connect, was created by Ben Bayouth, a special effects artist who has worked on Man Of Steel, the NBC series Grimm, and other TV shows and commercials. He was also a finalist on the Syfy series Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge. Bayouth, who also designed and built the puppets, voices Blark, the father. Chris Mintz-Plasse is the son.
Here’s the trailer for Blark & Son, along with the first few episodes:
