Alliance Atlantis Taps Int’l Licensing Agents for Lunar Jim

Alliance Atlantis Communications Inc. has appointed BBC Worldwide (U.K.), m4e (Germany) and ABC (Australia) licensing agents for new children's stop-motion animated property, LUNAR JIM. Each of the licensing agents, working alongside master toy licensee, Fisher-Price, will oversee the licensing program, including securing new licenses and managing product launches, in their respective territories.

Spider-Man 2 & Care Bears Take Home 3 LIMA Awards

Spider-Man Merchandising LP (Marvel Enterprises & Sony Pictures Consumer Products) won top honors last night as SPIDER-MAN 2 was named the 2004 Overall Best License of the Year at the Annual LIMA Gala and Awards Ceremony for the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers Assoc. (LIMA). The presentation, honoring the best and most creative and innovative programs and products in the multi-billion dollar worldwide licensing industry was held on June 22, 3005, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City.

Chaotic Card Game Turned into Series 4Kids

4Kids Ent. Inc. has acquired the worldwide licensing rights to CHAOTIC, Apex Marketing and Dracco Company Ltd.'s trading card game.

4Kids Entertainment will manage the licensing, marketing and promotional initiatives for this trading card property and will join creative forces with Apex Marketing to develop and produce an all-new children's animated series based on the property. 4Kids will jointly own the copyright to the television series, which is expected to debut on 4Kids TV in fall 2006.

Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising announced the expansion of the thriving FAMILY GUY licensing and merchandising program through two new agreements with videogame industry giant Take-Two Interactive Software and wireless content leader Airborne Ent. Take-Two has the rights to produce all-new videogames for multiple platforms under the 2K Games label, while Airborne Ent. will introduce new mobile phone content.

After first introducing their product at last Augusts Magic, several key licensees of BETTY & VERONICA have set the spring and fall roll-outs for their licensed apparel and accessory lines. The product lines stem from agreements with the BETTY & VERONICA licensees and the propertys licensing representatives Archie Comics Ent. Inc. and Miramax Films. Representing Archie Comics Ent. and Miramax Films in negotiating the agreements was Los Angeles-based licensing agency Brand Central Llc.

Geneon Ent. has hired Rand Brenner as its new director of licensing, reports VARIETY. Based in L.A., Brenner will oversee establishing, directing and executing licensing partnerships worldwide. Previously, he served as vp of licensing and merchandising at Saban, where he managed all licensing, including the MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS. Most recently, Brenner was president/coo of startup Lasershield Systems.

Taffy Ent. Launches New Licensing Division

Taffy Entertainment, the new business unit of Mike Young Productions (MYP) has launched its brand new licensing division to be headed by veteran licensing specialist Eric Stein as vp of licensing.

Stein is a former licensing exec with Lucasfilm and MGM/United Artists and the founder of consulting firm Eric Stein Entertainment (ESE). Topping on his agenda is to develop and implement the licensing strategy and program for the companys groundbreaking 3D, CGI-animated character-comedy PET ALIEN.
