David OReilly is a rock star.
Day 2 at Vienna Shorts Festival, we had our jury meeting before I headed into the David OReilly retrospective. My first reaction was... how the fug does a 20something get a retro? Well... they do by creating work that is groundbreaking, funny, smart and all things good.
OReilly was...okay... let's not call it 'mobbed' but he had people asking for autographs, signing photos... I've never really seen anything like it. Pretty sure that never happened to Stormin' Norman McLaren or the Kray brothers.
It's great to see though. Animators should be getting a bit more bloody love.
Not too much though... cause we don't want them turning into live-action types.
