Hello.
Went out yesterday and bought the new INCREDIBLES DVD- lots of extras cause Brad Bird loves extras. We spent the whole evening watching the hours of extras. It's great for animation junkies like me.
Thanks.

I'm adding it to my Netflix queue now.

Yeah hehehe...I got my copy the release date....and I've watched it an average of 2 times a day since.
I also have a great deal of respect for Brad Bird, his work, and how he directs...he's the real deal. A man with passion, consideration, conviction, and no holds barred. Not to mention, he's completely off his chump. A great quality for someone in his position. I hope to have the pleasure of working with or for him one day.
Adam
PS...he's also a great inspiration for all of us 2D animators taking the step into 3D. Remember that he knew NOTHING of 3D before taking on the Incredibles.
Hey Everyone, I found two GREAT hidden bonus features on the extras dvd. The first is on the main menu, after a little while a small icon of the omni-droid will pop up in the upper right hand corner. Quickly select it and there is a cool montage Brad Bird edited. The second is the same deal, but on the deleted scenes menu. It's an awesome storyboard sequence in the classroom right before dash puts a tack on the teachers chair. Hope you all enjoy and keep looking for hidden features, there might be more!

i can't wait to buy it when it hits the shops in Australia :) It is out at the end of next month, well there abouts. Absolutely loved the film! :D
Glad you enjoyed it Larry!
I went out and bought the DVD yesterday and spent the rest of the day watching all of the special features, lol. I am so glad that they have animators commentary. I had been complaining that they never let the animators talk so it's good to finally see what they have to say. I also liked watching the making of the Incredibles since I got to see more of what Pixar looked like on the inside. :D

Mine should arrive on Thurs of friday. I have been excited to watch it with Brad Bird's Comentary. Looking foreward to this one a lot!!
Well for that to be the case, Dreamworks movies would have to be as enjoyable... which they mostly aren't.

I'll drink to that! lol
It is always fun looking for the easter eggs on dvds-But if you want to head straight for some and not look around you can go to:
http://www.ultimatedisney.com/theincredibles.html
Toward the bottom of the review it has a seciton on easter eggs and tells you where a bunch are.
It's never too friendly to enter the cave and complain about the smell of a bear... Just a thought.
Meaning... what? An open forum for the discussion of animation shouldn't be a) open and b) a discussion?

The animators commentary is really interesting... They mention something about each animator doing about 1 minute in 4 years.... whoa
By my calculations, with a 5-day week and no overtime or holidays, that's finishing 1 second every 18 days at work!
Yeah, but it's a might fine second of work! :D
there are some great animated movies from dreamworks! just because it isn't pixar doesn't mean they can't create enjoyable movies.
but regarding the extras, the funniest parts are the 'staged' bloopers :) and the exciting part is always the 'making of...'
i yet to see incredibles's extras, but i think they will be much better than the actual movie. (which i really didn't much liked).
seems there is a mass 3d movies, and that begins to irritate me.
who knows, mabye we will see the classic movies returning ... or.. not.

The little list black book still lives!!! Just kidding...really
Hence my use of the word 'mostly' in my post. *nirg*
Honestly though, I didn't care for Shrek, which I consider to be a montage of one off gags cut in between licensed pop songs. Shark Tale had some amusing moments, but was far from a great movie. As far as their 2d goes... to be honest, I haven't even bothered. If I'm wrong and there's one I need to see, tell me. Make a convincing argument and I'll give it a shot.
The only Dreamworks animation project I've genuinely really liked was Antz.
So. I'm not just being quippy and a smart ass. I honestly feel that by and large, Dreamworks productions are not as good.
Then I'm sure my name is written in red at the top of at least every other page.

That sinbad movie they did was pretty damn good. It was so good that I went back and watched it frame by frame. (am i the only one that does this?) The camera direction was almost like a live action movie. I also really liked the way they animated Aeris with her morphing and such.
The story was pretty decent too. Next to Antz, i'd say this is one of dreamworks best features.
My only problem with sinbad was that all the monsters were 3d.

I have always enjoyed the Pixar extras.
I wish the Dreamworks extras were this enjoyable.
I checked out the Shark Tale extras yesterday.
They were pretty good but couldn't touch The Incredibles.
I'll do it on specific scenes, but not usually the entire movie.
Does that mean a majority of the shots are like a live action movie, with a couple of notable exceptions, or does it mean that all of the shots are almost like a live action movie? In what sense? The framing, the movement, the focus? All of the above?

I know this thread is getting a little old, but I thought I would add one thing.
The Incredibles has really great commentarys and I am puring over them to glen out pieces of gold.
I'M SO JELOUS  I'M DIEING TO SEE THE MAKEING OF
yeah, after the first time i saw sinbad i got a little obsessed(sorta like i am now with the incredibles)
There was a lot of camera movement during the action scenes, almost as if there were a live camera man there on the set. They really took advantage of the 3d bg's. If they moved the camera, they'd animate the 2d characters turning in 3d space in relation to the camera.
Hmm, talking about it makes me wanna go watch it again

In the first behind the scenes video on the second disk there seems to be some strategic editing, something along the lines of Brad saying "This movie is going to be (cut) awesome!" Is there a rated R version coming out?:D
