My name is Steve King and I have written a screenplay entitled Yellow on Blonde in which I have done everything in my power to market it but with no solid results. Some people have liked the story although one studio remarked that there was not enough content between scenes and that the dialogue was too on-the-nose.
I have reached the end of the line with my efforts and was wondering if there was anyone that would be interested in revising/re-marketing it and sharing 50/50 credit and any proceeds should that come to pass. I am fine with sending that person a copy of the screenplay. Here is the logline and synopsis.
A vulnerable girl of mixed race ancestry, driven to suicidal despair by a combination of adverse circumstances, overcomes her demons and gives herself a second chance when she unites with a younger sister in a gentler, more forgiving place across the globe.
Synopsis
The screenplay is about two sisters in different continents, Celeste in Los Angeles, and Molly in the Philippines, and the odyssey Celeste must undergo to reach and bond with Molly.
Having grown up in the South Bay region of Los Angeles, and now having lived in the Philippines for over three years, it gave me a unique opportunity to experience the two different cultures. I describe the separate lives of the girls, and what happens when they come together. Noting parallels with the movies The Joy Luck Club and The Namesake, I created my story, Yellow on Blonde.
Due to Celeste's having been raised in the Los Angeles lifestyle, she doesn't put a premium on family--until she goes through her version of hell--a series of circumstances including a traumatic break up with a popular boy, a car accident resulting in a broken leg, a lengthy rehabilitation, an acute depressive episode, and a bout with alcoholism. I feel confident that any audience will empathize with the trials and tribulations that Celeste overcomes.
A therapeutic intervention sets Celeste on the path towards her trans-Pacific journey to connect with Molly in the ultimate climax of the story.
