Creating some water ripples animation - need your advice

Hi Everybody

I am a glass artist and I am working on an experimental glass stop motion animation

I found methods to create all kind of animations sequences (hope this is the right term), but somehow I am struggling with creating a water ripples effect. I want to create a scene where some glass drops fall onto a glass surface, thus creating some ripples. I tried drawing this by hand before making it in glass, but the animation didn't look good and natural. I also tried looking for sample sequences online, but all I could find was water ripples animation from the side look – and I want this animation to be from above (top-down, you look down and see the ripples). In short, I'd be happy for your advice – is there a  source where I could find this kind of drawn sequence – free or paid? Or should I simply look for someone here that could do it for me? any advice would be welcomed

I don't know for sure but

I don't know for sure but many software programs have the option (under FX) to integrate water ripples. Not sure if from the side or from above as you want. Have you looked at programs? I'm sure it can be done.
