Night At The Museum Living Window at NYC's AMC Lincoln Square Theater

In NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN, due in theaters everywhere May 22, some of history's most famous figures miraculously come to life at the world's largest museum. But New Yorkers and visitors to the Big Apple can experience, interact with -- and live -- history weeks before the film's unveiling, via a "Living Window" at the AMC Lincoln Square Theater at Broadway and 68th Street. There, three characters from NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN -- famed aviatrix Amelia Earhart; Sacajawea, who guided explorers Lewis and Clark on their epic exploration of the Western United States; and "Neanderthal Man," the extinct predecessor to homo sapiens -- will come alive May 8-9 and May 15-16.

For about six hours each of those Nights, actors wearing the costumes adorned by film's cast members during production, will live inside the theater's window space, facing Broadway. Each will act out tasks specific to his or her historical era, as well as interact with each other -- and with the crowds observing the tableaux. In addition, "Amelia," "Sacajawea," and "Neanderthal Man" will engage in some contemporary rituals, including Twittering, texting, munching on theater concessions, and playing card games.

The history-making event will be captured live, via a special webcam streaming on amctheatres.com, allowing people from around the globe to visit the characters, virtually, and interact with them via email.

Before the film's characters come alive, they are of course exhibits -- and beginning April 13, the theater's windows became enlivened by actual prop mannequins from the film, displayed as museum exhibits complete with props and character descriptions.

It's a new "Night" and "Museum" for Ben Stiller, who is joined by several other stars from the original film, as well as new characters from history -- including Amy Adams as famed aviatrix Amelia Earhart, Hank Azaria as villainous Egyptian pharaoh Kahmunrah, Christopher Guest as Russian tyrant Ivan the Terrible and Alain Chabat as Napoleon. Owen Wilson is back as cowboy Jedediah, and Robin Williams again rides into history as Teddy Roosevelt. The centerpiece of the film will be bringing to life the Smithsonian Institution, which houses the world's largest museum complex with more than 136 million items in its collections, ranging from the plane Amelia Earhart flew on her nonstop solo flight across the Atlantic and Al Capone's rap sheet and mug shot to Archie Bunker's lounge chair. No major film has ever shot inside the Smithsonian in Washington...until NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: BATTLE OF THE SMITHSONIAN. The "Battle" begins in theaters and IMAX everywhere May 22.
