The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a 40th anniversary screening of Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY on Friday, April 25, at 7:30 p.m. in the Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Tom Hanks, whose career and interests were markedly influenced by 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, will host this special screening, presented in 70mm 6-track stereo, as was the original release. Following the screening, Hanks will be joined onstage by actor Keir Dullea, Oscar-nominated visual effects wizard Douglas Trumbull and special effects artist Bruce Logan to discuss their work on the film.

Reed Exhibitions, the world's largest organizer of business-to-business events, is hosting the 3rd annual New York Comic-Con, a trade as well as consumer event, which will focus on comics and all matters relating to comics and associated fields; including graphic novels, manga, anime, games, film, television, toys, videogames and licensing rights.

The Vail Film Festival, with presenting sponsor BEST LIFE magazine, announced the complete line-up of films selected to be screened at the 2008 Festival, taking place April 3 - 6, 2008 at America's top-rated ski resort in Vail, Colorado.

The Festival will screen 83 films from around the world, including 16 feature films and 66 documentaries, short films, Oscar shorts, action sports, student, and animated films. The 2008 Festival also will feature the two winning short films from the brand new Red Vision Film Contest.

This presentation will show you how to set up 3D cameras and their rigs. There will also be an explanation of the integration of the workflow process from previs in 3D to shooting in 3D from an exciting list of top industry people who have shot in 3D Stereoscopic films.
