Gnomon Hosts Compositing Workshop

Begins: February 18, 2008

Steve Wright Digital FX, Composite Components Co. and the Gnomon School of Visual Effects are holding a workshop on compositing. Steve Wright, the author of DIGITAL COMPOSITING FOR FILM AND VIDEO, will present an evening of greenscreen compositing techniques for VFX using production examples from DORME, a 35mm fantasy short.

The 39th NAACP Image Awards will broadcast live from Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium, Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008 (8:00-10:00 pm ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Nominations for the annual award show that recognizes the artistic achievements of people of color and honors projects and individuals that promote diversity in the arts will be announced Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008 from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Diary of the Dead Sneak Preview

Begins: February 13, 2008

The American Cinematheque at the Egyptian Theatre presents a sneak preview of DIARY OF THE DEAD, directed by George Romero (DAWN OF THE DEAD). The 7:30 pm screening will feature horror legend Romero in person. In the new movie, a group of young film students run into real-life zombies while filming a horror movie of their own. The screening of DIARY OF THE DEAD is at the Lloyd E. Rigler Theatre at the historic Egyptian (6712 Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and Las Palmas) in Hollywood. Best of Stash 2007 Screening

The Museum of the Moving Image and Stash DVD Magazine present the premiere U.S. screening of Best of Stash 2007.

The presentation features 60 minutes of the most inspired and spectacular commercials, music videos, virals, broadcast designs, game cinematics and short films of 2007, plus insightful presentations from Shilo and PSYOP and a post-screening reception.

The event is free with museum admission -- $10 adults; $7.50 college students and senior citizens with ID; $5 children 5-18; and free for museum members.
