I've recently been contacted about doing some freelance storyboard work. The problem is, I've never done freelance storyboard work and I'm not sure how to charge for this type of job.
Can anyone tell me what the average rate is for a freelance storyboarding job? Do people charge by the hour, page, or what?
thanks
Here is a really good storyboarding book

and there are other good ones listed below it. I think I have just about all of them at home. I'll have to check through them to see what kind of prices some of them reccommend. One thing I learned is that you should show the client 3 different "speed/qualities" that you could create for them. The fastest being the lesser quality and therefore the lowest charge (30sec- 5 minutes), then medium (5-15 minutes), Then high quality (15minutes +), you should also charge extra for color. Another thing you need to remember is that even though the drawings may be easy for you to do, they want to hire you because they cannot draw as well as you and they want something that will look good (good to them is probably not the same as what you might think is good)
This is a link to the Graphic Artist Guild. It will have a place for prices as well. http://www.gag.org/pegs/index.php
This is another good site with professioanl artists. http://www.motionartists.com You may inquire as to how much they charge.
