Hello.
Because we all should be sketching- everyday...
Here is a DAILY SKETCH thread.
The idea is to post a drawing without software modifications. JUST DRAW IT AND POST IT.
The best way to accomplish this is to scan it into Photoshop or some other software and save it as SAVE FOR THE WEB. Keep it to 400 pixels and then post it here.
Rules for sketches...
NO SOFTWARE CLEAN-UP
YES, YOU CAN CROP
NO SOFTWARE COLOR
LEAVE THE "HAIRY" LINES (they're cooool!)
Thanks.

Okay, here's one I did recently (10/8). :)
2-D animation will never die. The invention of photography did not kill painting. Why would animation be any different?

Unfortunately, I get most my sketching done in class. I hope to clean this one up soon. Cavy, yours are hilarious! "will draw for food!" I don't know how often I've said that to my mom.

Here's something I did while on the Go-Train. Inspiration struck and all I had was a pen. Turned out okay (I think) except that I ruined the foot (which I cropped out) but plan to fix up in photoshop someday. The other is some sketches I was doing for a character I had to develop for class (also on the Go).
Hey Folks-
I thought we would fill this thread up with drawings?
Where have all the artists gone?
Thanks.

DRAWN!
What about those of us that only work on the computer? I can't hold a pencil anymore. Does that leave me out?

I was scanning images into the computer today and thought I'd post a few sketches I did this week. Sorry for the graininess, but I wanted the files to be as small as possible
oh and another thing... I'm creating a website (if you can call a geocities site a legitimate website). If you are so inclined, you can view it at the following address. Sure it's not professional, or super cool, but it's sole purpose is to display some art I'm doing presently. I have yet to post "real" artwork (ie. paintings, long drawings, etc.), but I hope to post such things in the future.

I've been meaning to participate in this threat since it started but, unfortunately I've been super glued to a computer, frantically trying to finish a project... oof!
(Un)Fortunately, my computer at the studio exploded on Friday due to a thunderstorm, so I had tonnes of time to spare, hurrah!
Here's two of my colleagues...

Astounding Joel! Reminds me of Katsushika Hokusai, the thirty-six views guy. You've probably heard that before, but still...uncanny.
:) I didn't think about him, but somehow you are right - in fact I love japanese art, so there was probably an inconscious part of my brain working when I made this.
A part I do like in drawings are movements, or a sense of movements made by lines - old copper, or wood, engravings were made like this to give half-tone, but they also give volume and an eye direction around the subjects (Gustave DorŽ for instance, or Albrecht DŸrer).
An American artist named Paul Call (I think it's the coorect name), working only with pencil, draw with that kind of technics, and his illustrations a really dynamic when you see them. :D
I did this after hearing bush won another 4 years.
Just wondering how it could have possibly happened....

It's actually pretty simple. In our country, people over the age of 18 have a right to vote every four years on who of the two major foreign-owned-media-controlled candidates we'd rather have as a President. Here's a page to understand the U.S. Electoral Process. In this particular election, the winning candidate not only successfully fulfilled the terms of that process, but incidentally also won not only more of the popular votes than the other candidates, but an incredibly slight majority .
A better question is, after both major candidates asked us to cooperate with them toward a unified America, why are we using their win and loss to divide ourselves further by incessant bickering? Go to the messageboards at Yahoo! News sometime, and you'll understand exactly why we're spinning our wheels. The masses have the control, and all too often do not use all the best decision-making skills at their disposal.
