Hi... all... Can any one tell me, that which software is used widely in Japanese studios for both 2D and 3D Compositing???? I hope in US and Canada Toonboom and Usanimation opus are widely used for 2D compositing...Is this true????

From what I've heard, Retas Pro is standard. Toonz has been used, I've heard of licenses of AXA around.
Custom software is not unheard of as well - you can't buy 3/4 of the software say Disney uses.
But Retas Pro, AXA, USanimation and toonboom can composite, they are meant for producing animation. If you mean something just for compositing - different tools are better suited for different situations.
After FX is very popular in Japan as well, its definitly in use at Studio Ghibli, the use of Sakurai Optical Labs products etc... and lower to high end Discreet products are found around as well.
