I bought a Quadcore, but have been facing performance issues. It is performing below my earlier machine which was a E6700 when we work on Maya or Max.
All other things are better, including the motherboard, RAM MHz, HDD. I am quite surprised since the earlier machine was bought a year ago.

My new Quad PC is giving trouble when using Blender.

Q6600 @ 2.40 ghz
2.39 Ghz, 2.98 GB of RAM
I cannot "save as" my file. I can save it, but cannot save as it as a new file. Kindly help.

I configure paths for the textures, even then it asks me the path for textures everytime I open file. Kindly help.

3D softwares are not running well. Max, Maya and Blender all are giving some trouble or the other.
My previous PC with following config was handling all much better -
intel(R)Core(TM)2DUO CPU
E6750 @ 2.66 ghz
2.66 Ghz, 2.98 GB of RAM

mmmm... i dont think the fault be of the processor, looks like the problems are from the software, maybe the config, or the OS...
