The coming-of-age story, based on the popular manga about college freshman Tamaki Tsuru joining the school’s aviation club and falling in love with the beauty of the sky, arrives on digital and Blu-ray next month.
Shout! Factory and Eleven Arts have announced the anime adventure film, Blue Thermal, arrives on digital and Blu-ray March 14. Produced by Telecom Animation Film (Lupin III movies, Orange), this coming-of-age story is the long-awaited feature film adaptation of author and creator Kana Ozawa’s popular manga series centering on a young college student who joins the school's aviation club.
Special Blu-ray bonus content includes an interview with director Masaki Tachibana (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Princess Principal, Barakamon) and character profiles.
The film follows Tamaki Tsuru, a college freshman who is initially disillusioned with campus life. When she looks for an extracurricular club to join and gives the aviation club a try, she proceeds to ding a glider at tryouts, ending up having to work it off. Then Kuramochi, the club leader and glider pilot, takes Tamaki under his wing, and from the moment he takes her up for a flight in a glider, Tamaki falls in love with the vast beauty of the sky.
The film’s Japanese voice cast includes: Mayu Hotta (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War 2019); Nobunaga Shimazaki (Summer Ghost); Junya Enoki (My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission); Mikako Komatsu (Jujutsu Kaisen 0); Daisuke Ono (Batman Ninja); Haruka Shiraishi (When Marnie Was There); Yo Taichi (Her Blue Sky); Ayumu Murase (Drifting Home); Makoto Furukawa (Mobile Suit Gundam Narrative); Rie Takahashi (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie); Taku Yashiro (The Island of Giant Insects); Kengo Kawanishi (Batman Ninja); and Minoru Terada (Castle in the Sky).
The popular Japanese piano rock band SHE'S perform the film's theme song “Blue Thermal” and the song “Beautiful Bird.”
