Canadian CG animation production company Mainframe Ent. and Mattel Inc. are completing production on a new animated feature-length DVD based on Mattels toy line Barbie Fairytopia. Lions Gate Family Home Ent. will distribute the feature, BARBIE FAIRYTOPIA, which will be available in stores March 8, 2005.
"Mainframe has been with us from the beginning and has proven to be outstanding partners, said Steve Ross, Mattel svp of worldwide entertainment and business development. Its good to have the same team in place as we create new productions and continue to engage girls deeper in the world of Barbie," Ross added, who announced the collaboration a year ago.
In BARBIE FAIRYTOPIA, Barbie stars as Elina, a beautiful wingless fairy, who embarks on a fantastic journey to save her flower home from the evil Laverna in the magical world of Fairytopia. Helped by her quirky friend Bibble, and Hue, a giant butterfly, Elina learns that being different makes one special as she saves her beautiful land.
The DVD is presented in family-friendly widescreen with Dolby 5.1 and 2.0 Audio with Spanish 2.0 Audio with special features including a "Boogie with Barbie" dancing game, "Pixie Hide and Seek" game, "Fairy Friends" and interactive menus.
Mainframe continues to create award-winning animation for Mattel in the Barbie franchise, and recently animated the fourth installment of the Barbie direct-to-video/DVD features, BARBIE AS THE PRINCESS AND THE PAUPER.
