Mainframe London Invests In New Property

Mainframe's London headquarters is investing more than 1.2 million pounds as part of a continuing expansion project that has necessitated a move to a larger studio.

Hot on the heels of opening Mainframe North in Manchester, the London studio will be moving in mid-September to the top floor of a beautiful old Clerkenwell warehouse, situated next to the Guardian's offices, in order to secure extra space for current and future expansion. Mainframe has bought the property outright for just under 1 million pounds.

Rainmaker To Complete Acquisition of Mainframe

Rainmaker Animation & Visual Effects has entered into an agreement to acquire all of Mainframe Ent., with the new corporate name to be Rainmaker Ent. Inc. (REI).

This was the result of Rainmaker acquiring the balance of the 38% of the outstanding shares of Mainframe not owned by Rainmakers majority owned subsidiary, RNK Capital Ltd. Partnership (RNK Capital LP), by way of an amalgamation, resulting in a cash purchase price of $0.24 per share.

Rainmaker to Acquire Mainframe From IDT

Rainmaker has agreed to purchase 62% worth of outstanding shares of Mainframe Ent. Inc. from IDT Ent. Inc. and its affiliates. The acquisition is expected to close on July 31.

Following the closing of the acquisition from IDT, Rainmaker intends to acquire the balance of the shares of Mainframe. If Rainmaker acquires all the remaining shares of Mainframe at the intended price, the aggregate acquisition purchase price to Rainmaker for all shares of Mainframe will be approximately $13.8 million.

Mainframe Ent. Scores 2006 MTV Movie Awards Animation

Mainframe Ent. will create original logos, branding, opening and closing segments, and introductions for upcoming 2006 MTV MOVIE AWARDS broadcast, which air June 8 on MTV. The studio will blend elements of 2D and 3D animation to create stylized animated sequences for the awards show. The studio contributed branding to the awards program last year after it launched a full service creative services division.

Weinstein Co. Acquires CG-Animated Escape From Planet Earth

The Weinstein Co. has acquired the rights to ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH, a CG-animated comedy feature to be written by Tony Leech and Cory Edwards, the duo behind the box office animated hit HOODWINKED. Leech is set to direct the project and Preston Stutzman of Blue Yonder Films will produce it along with Jonathan Shestack (AIR FORCE ONE), Brian Inerfeld and Gregory R. Little with Mainframe Ent., which will animate the film in Vancouver. Jeremy Stein of Jon Shestack Productions will co-produce. Mainframes ceo Rick Mischel will exec produce.

Mainframe Launches Expanded Creative Services Division

Mainframe Ent. Inc. has launched a full service Creative Services division that will specialize in all areas of graphic design, motion graphics, titling, opening sequences and branding. The first project of the newly-expanded division will be an alliance with McLean Mashingaidze-Greaves to design the new website for the popular TV Series PINK PLANET, which airs on CityTV, Vancouver. Pinkplanet.tv will feature e-commerce, video blogs and wi-fi based social networking. In addition, the division is working with IDT Ent.

Mainframe Taking Arthur 3D in Animated Feature

Mainframe Entertainment has acquired international distribution rights for a new CG animated direct-to-video film based on the tremendously popular ARTHUR children's book series. Mainframe, Lions Gate Family Entertainment and RichCrest Animation have partnered to create the feature film, ARTHUR'S MISSING PAL, which will mark the first time that the beloved aardvark will come to life in 3D CG animation. IDT Entertainment Sales (IDTeS) will sell international distribution rights for the film on behalf of Mainframe.

Barbie Fairytopia Production Ready for DVD

Canadian CG animation production company Mainframe Ent. and Mattel Inc. are completing production on a new animated feature-length DVD based on Mattels toy line Barbie Fairytopia. Lions Gate Family Home Ent. will distribute the feature, BARBIE FAIRYTOPIA, which will be available in stores March 8, 2005.

Mainframe Ent. and Protocol Ent. have announced that Protocol will create a new half-hour live-action series based on the classic HARRIET THE SPY children's novels. Protocol will produce 22 half-hour episodes, with HARRIET rights owner 2 Friends Ent. acting as exec. producers and U.S. sales agent and Mainframe retaining international distribution rights. Rick Mischel, ceo of Mainframe, will be engaged by Protocol as an exec producer on the project.
