Bix Pix and Citizen Skull to Produce ‘Tumble Leaf, The Movie’

Drew Hodges, the creator of Prime Video’s popular stop-motion animated preschool series, will pen and direct the upcoming feature that follows Tumble Leaf, Fig, and his friends on an epic, quirky, and hilarious quest across the vast unknown.

Bix Pix Entertainment’s Kelli Bixler and Drew Hodges have partnered with Citizen Skull producers Mark Myers and Heather Kenyon to produce Tumble Leaf, The Movie based on the award-winning Prime Video preschool series created and directed by Hodges, who will write and direct the upcoming stop-motion animated feature.

When everyone on the island of Tumble Leaf gathers at the Finding Ceremony, a momentous coming-of-age celebration, only Fig the Fox resists because it threatens to upend his perfect life. Suddenly, the ceremony is interrupted when the island mysteriously breaks apart due to a long-hidden ancient entity. With Tumble Leaf lost, Fig and his friends must lead their eclectic community as they set sail on an epic, quirky, and hilarious quest across the vast unknown to find a new home and their place in a bigger, wilder world.

The award-winning Tumble Leaf animated series, which boasts 105 episodes, has garnered 15 Emmys, three Annies, a BAFTA, and an Annecy International Animation Film Festival Award since its 2014 launch. It’s now available on Prime Video worldwide in 17 languages.

Tumble Leaf has inspired countless families to play around the world, but the series has left them wanting more,” said Bixler. “Thankfully, we’ve now got an answer for all our dedicated fans who for years have been asking us to ‘Please, please make more Tumble Leaf!’”

Hodges noted, “We’ve been tinkering with a lot of ideas for a feature film for a while, and finally, all of our wild, totally Tumble Leaf story pieces have fallen into place just in time for the show’s 10-year anniversary.”

“Mark and I are so honored that Kelli and Drew have chosen us to join them on their first family feature film,” added Kenyon. “The fact that it is the lauded Tumble Leaf is icing on the cake! We couldn’t be more excited to work together to get this delight made!”

Kenyon and Bixler are attending the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Market, MIFA, seeking additional partnerships. Production begins this year. A release date has not been announced.
