Call for Entries: 2nd Annual Andreas Deja Scholarship

Submissions are now being accepted for The Creative Talent Network’s 2024 initiative, ‘The Perfect Fit?’ designed by the famed animator himself, to create a pencil animation of a character struggling to fit into a coat/jacket; the entry deadline is September 27.

CTN (Creative Talent Network) announced details and the theme for the second annual Andreas Deja Scholarship, an initiative dedicated to fostering rising stars in 2D animation. The 2024 assignment, ‘The Perfect Fit?’ created by Deja, the celebrated animator the scholarship honors, challenges aspiring animators to create a pencil animation of a character struggling to fit into a coat/jacket, to reveal that the item is either too large or too small, or something else, to demonstrate their animation skills.

Entries for the 2nd Annual Andreas Deja Scholarship are now open. Additional information is available here and submissions are accepted here. Award recipients receive notification by October 14 with the  awards ceremony taking place at CTNX24 on November 24.

The submission deadline is September 27, 2024, at 11:59 pm PT.

Deja will blind judge the challenge entries and CTN Foundation will award a cash prize to one winner. In addition, that winner will receive a year of mentorship by Deja on a new animated project. The challenge’s runners-up receive additional prizes, opportunities, and complimentary CTNX24 admissions.

CTNX24, the Creative Talent Network’s annual four-day expo runs November 21-24 in Burbank, California. Information about the event is available here.

"I’m always excited to see the great work generated by the next generation of animators, and am thrilled that CTN provides them this opportunity,” said Deja. “Last year I was so impressed with the quality of submissions and delighted to spend time discussing animation with the winners who brought beautiful perspectives to the assignment. I’m even more eager to see what this year holds.”
