Chris Wedge, via his WedgeWorks company, has picked up the rights to Kirsten Bakis' novel LIVES OF THE MONSTER DOGS, reports Heat Vision. Wedge plans to make the project his live-action directing debut. He will co-write the script with Adam Kline.
The story follows genetically engineered soldier dogs that escape from their Prussian scientist creators and end up in modern NYC. As time goes on, the upright walking canines revert back to their natural ways.
Wedge will develop the project independently before pitching it to Fox where he has a production deal set up.
WedgeWorks' Nikki Levy is producing.
