The animation style on ‘Leon and the Mysterious Village,’ a new promotional short for Capcom’s upcoming remastered horror game, feels quite familiar… and is positively adorable.
Creepy and cute? Resident Evil 4, the highly anticipated remake of the fan favorite video game, will feature gore, grit, and body horror; however, the game’s latest promotional video is anything but horrific. If anything, it is horrifically adorable. The Capcom Channel on YouTube recently dropped Resident Evil Masterpiece Theater’s Leon and the Mysterious Village.
Watch episode one, Looking for Ashley, of the positively Studio Ghibli-esque animated series of shorts now:
Released by Capcom in 2005, Resident Evil 4 follows hero Leon S. Kennedy on his mission to rescue Ashley Graham, the U.S. president’s daughter, from parasitically infected villagers. The classic game is widely considered one of the best (and scariest) horror games of all time, making the animated short an unusual, yet oddly fitting trailer.
Also up from the Resident Evil franchise is Resident Evil: Death Island, the next installment of the Resident Evil 3DCG animated film saga. In the film, Leon is on a mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, when a mysterious woman thwarts his pursuit. Meanwhile, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield is investigating a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection cannot be identified. Chris and his team head to the Alcatraz island, where a new horror awaits them.
Resident Evil 4 is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.
