Venice, CA—January 12, 2010 — Academy Award-winning digital studio Digital Domain announced the key management team at its new visual effects outpost in Vancouver, British Columbia, with Troy Brooks joining as Studio Manager, Arin Finger and Tim Belsher coming aboard as Studio Producer and Pipeline Supervisor, respectively, and veteran Digital Domain staffer Darren Poe serving as Digital Supervisor. After officially opening its doors last week, Digital Domain Vancouver has begun work on Walt Disney Pictures’ Tron Legacy and will soon start on Marvel Studios’ Thor, both of which are also in production at the company’s California headquarters.

Digital Domain CEO Cliff Plumer said, “This core team provides an extraordinary foundation of talent, experience and leadership, and Troy’s background was particularly invaluable to launching this studio.”

Brooks is a Canada native who joins Digital Domain with over eighteen years of experience in animation and visual effects. Most recently as co-founder and CEO of PipelineFX, Brooks oversaw technology development and strategy for the company and provided consulting to film studios on pipeline workflow. “Digital Domain has long been a leader in visual effects and animation,” said Brooks, “and production in Vancouver is absolutely thriving. For one of the industry’s premier innovators to have a presence in this community is a perfect fit, and I’m thrilled to be leading the charge.”

Finger has over a dozen feature film credits and held various roles on projects including A Christmas Carol, Night at the Museum, Sin City and Hellboy, among others. Belsher was a computer graphics supervisor on District 9 – acting as the primary technical architect for that project’s visual effects pipeline – and also worked in various capacities on War of the Worlds, Poseidon and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith. Poe is a thirteen-year veteran of Digital Domain who served as digital effects supervisor on two of last year’s biggest blockbusters: Roland Emmerich’s 2012 and J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek.

“It’s amazing that Digital Domain Vancouver went from concept to execution in just a few short months,” said Gloria Borders, president of feature film operations, “but this team worked tirelessly to make it happen on schedule. With exciting projects like Tron Legacy and Thor– two of the most highly anticipated films currently in production – everyone is ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work.”

Digital Domain earned a 2009 Academy Award for achievement in visual effects on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and recently completed visual effects for Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, 2012, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Star Trek.
