Digital Domain has filed an initial public offering that could earn the visual effects company $100 million. In its filing, the company stated the money earned would go to "expanding our technology development and licensing program and attempting to enter into the production of animated and visual effects-driven feature films and the development and production of video games."
The company named Thomas Wiesel Partners and CIBC World Markets as co-lead managers for the IPO, which earning will also be used to pay down debt. If approved, the listing would be on the Nasdaq Global Market under the symbol "DTWO."
In the first nine months of the current fiscal year, the f/x firm has lost $15 million.
Current projects include THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON and THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR.
