Disney Skeletons Dance Into 4K

Video editor Adam Maciaszek has lovingly remastered Walt Disney Studios’ ‘Silly Symphony’ short ‘The Skeleton Dance’ in 4K.

Bring on the spooky, just in time for Halloween! The creepy and cute 1929 Silly Symphony short, The Skeleton Dance by Walt Disney Studios, has been lovingly remastered in 4K by editor Adam Maciaszek. In the video, a group of skeletons come alive as the clock strikes 12, and they dance until the sun comes up. Watch the updated short below, and make sure to adjust the playback speed to ‘2.’

Maciaszek explains the remaster was “performed by human aided AI algorithms to not only upscale the resolution, but to clear up detail and remove the intense flicker in the original 1929 classic.” The original short was met with very positive reception, and in 1994 was named “18” out of 50 by animation historian Jerry Beck in his book “The 50 Greatest Cartoons: As Selected by 1,000 Animation Professionals.” With such superb results, we’re hoping to see many more remasters from Maciaszek. Our vote? Merbabies!
