eOne Scores U.S. Broadcast Deal with Sprout for ‘Magic Hockey Skates’ TV Special

‘The Magic Hockey Skates’ will make its U.S. debut on the 24-hour preschool TV network during the Christmas holidays.

LONDON -- Entertainment One has secured a broadcast agreement in the U.S. with Sprout, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s 24-hour preschool network, for the TV special The Magic Hockey Skates.

The half-hour animated special will receive its U.S. premiere on the channel in December 2016 as part of Sprout’s holiday line-up, which will also feature movies and specials every weekend throughout December.

Based on the book of the same name, The Magic Hockey Skates is a 2D-animated primetime TV special. The story follows one young boy’s inspirational journey as he gains confidence and self-respect with a little help from a pair of magic skates.

eOne has international broadcast rights for the TV special which is produced by Amberwood Entertainment. In addition to Sprout, eOne has sold the broadcast rights to a number of international broadcasters including the Disney Channel (Latin America and Brazil), SRC (Canada), France Televisions (France), KiKA (Germany), SVT (Sweden), DR Danish Broadcasting Corporation (Denmark), MBC (Middle East).
