FilmDistrict has picked up the distribution rights to the RED DAWN remake from MGM, reports The L.A. Times. The original film had a group of teens battling Soviet invaders, but the new film changes the Russians to North Korean soldiers. Originally the invading army was from China, but MGM found it difficult to find a partner because of it, so the studio digitally changed the army to North Korea. FilmDistrict plans to release the film in 2012.
Chris Hemsworth (THOR) stars in the new version. Dan Bradley directed.
