Twitch Film reports that Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 WEEKS LATER) has become the latest to exit Relativity's reboot of THE CROW. The film has stalled many times over its course and is subject of an arbitration hearing with The Weinstein Co. over which company has the rights to release the film. In the midst of this turmoil, Fresnadillo had begun talks to helm the HIGHLANDER reboot.
Originally Stephen Norrington (BLADE) was set to direct from Nick Cave's adaptation of James O'Barr's graphic novel. Later both left the project and in came Fresnadillo and writer Alex Tse. Bradley Cooper then signed on to star, but eventually left to make PARADISE LOST, which is being directed by the original CROW director Alex Proyas.
Rumors have F. Javier Gutierrez (BEFORE THE FALL) as the top choice to now direct.
